The JAM Story
Principal consultant, Sam Jackman, has been involved in the advertising and marketing industry regionally, nationally and internationally for the past 40 plus years. His career experience spans the full gamut of industry sectors including large multi-national advertising agencies, internationally recognised products and brands, franchised and independent retail, sector service industries, membership business organisations and local and regional councils.
Brand development, guardianship and establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with clients and their international brands are hallmarks of a global advertising and marketing career.
Locally, he was President of the Havelock North Business Association for a period of three years during which time he was instrumental in building the membership base from 147 to 350, representing the business interests of Association members and was instrumental in the development and launch of the Love the Village branding.
Submitting a revised strategy illuminating the attributes and opportunities that could be developed with the Great Things Grow Here™ brand platform, Hastings District Council contracted him to further develop the brand and in June 2016 saw the relaunch of the Great Things Grow Here™ regional economic development brand platform across Hawke’s Bay.
The Jam Consultancy Inc. continues to manage the brand with a programme base comprising over 320 businesses and organisations participating.
Businesses developed and managed also included The Property Valet Company – a full-service business with 42 on-call and on-demand sub-contractors preparing properties for sale for vendor clients of the real estate industry. Millhills Lodge, a notable unique accommodation and private venue offering in Havelock North, Hawke’s Bay was also a business developed by the principal.
Today, the Jam Consultancy Inc. is responsible for the Biodiversity Hawke’s Bay Corporate Investor Package Programme and works closely connecting business with biodiversity and environmental matters across the Hawke’s Bay region. Lawrence Yule, ex. Mayor – Hastings District / current M.P. for Tukituki
“You have done a wonderful job in this role. The Havelock North Business Association would be one of the best in NZ and that has only happened since you have been driving it. Full credit for your skill, passion and commitment. It has been outstanding”.
Al Mackie, Founding Partner, BAND
“From the outset Sam has breathed fresh life into the GTGH brand - he picked up a hard task and has truly run with it. The momentum he has gathered is unusual and I haven’t seen the level of regional uptake since Kim Thorpe’s ‘Wine Country’ initiative.
Sam is undoubtedly a larger than life character and his enthusiasm and commitment has been unwavering throughout our relationship”.
Aimee Stewart, Managing Director, Connec+
“In addition to his professional qualifications, Sam has personal qualities that make him well-suited to leadership. He falls naturally into the role of “point person” and I have seen many people go to him with questions. He is not afraid to take risks and often suggests new directions to explore”
Carrie Reaney, Co-Founder/ Director, MRD Web
“From the outset Sam has had a strong vision for GTGH, and a firm understanding of the commitment of time and resource required to ensure the success of the project. Sam always made himself available to our development team to ensure solid working relationships between all of the suppliers involved in this project. The engagement and rapid growth of the Brand Champions Club is a credit to Sam”.
Mark Skinner, ex. Managing Director DDB, Hong Kong
“If you want ideas, a motivating spirit, and a desire to succeed, then Sam’s your man. But unlike his contemporaries, there is also an ability to deliver the goods”.
Anna Coleman, Director, The Confidence Company
“Sam gets stuff done! He makes things happen now and has no idea what the word 'procrastinate' means. He is hardworking and generous with his time, always happy to help. A superb connector and networker."
Ross McLeod, Ex CEO, Hastings District Council
“While the standard of work you produce is always of a high standard, the quantum and quality of work that you have been producing is outstanding”.
